Musician + Writer
Eliza Tebo is a musician and writer based in Washington, D.C.
As a vocalist and songwriter, Eliza regularly performs jazz, folk, rock and pop. Her debut jazz EP was released in 2022 and took home Best Jazz Album at the 2023 Wammies. With Howard University’s Afro Blue/Traces of Blue, she performed on NBC's "The Sing-Off" and NPR, as well as The Kennedy Center, Blues Alley, the B.B. King Blues Club (NY) and the Vice President’s official residence. Eliza is also a member of rock outfit Wandering Bird. And you can expect to hear her first pop album in 2025.
On Nov. 15, 2024, Eliza will release jazz tune “A Child is Born.” The record is a follow up to her raw and emotional singles from 2023: a cover of Joni Mitchell’s “River” and an original piece, “Me and the Sun.” All three are on D.C.-based Wandering Bird Records.
She’s also a journalist and communications professional. As a reporter for WAMU’s Affordability Desk in 2020, she produced digital and audio stories about the challenges of living in one of the nation’s most expensive cities before and during an economic crisis. She has also written about the D.C.-area music and arts scene for multiple publications and hosts two D.C. music podcasts, Common Chord and Formative Tracks. Her bylines have appeared on WAMU, DCist, ARLnow, Arlington Magazine, DC Refined, Grammy.com, Northern Virginia Magazine, NPR Music and The Washington Post.
Eliza also writes short stories and has a teleplay in the works.
